Event Report: Bazaar Bridal Week 2014 Ivan Gunawan Collection

Few weeks ago a friend of mine that works in TV station got invitation for Bazaar Bridal Week 2014 Ivan Gunawan Collection. She asked me if I want to see it too,and sure enough I tagged her along to the event! Funny story, I've never been to any fashion show before, so I was not sure the dress code for this type of event. Well, of course you can wear whatever suit you, but I know I couldn't show up there in my pyjamas either. I end up wearing my jeans and one of my go to tops, and hoping I was presentable enough for the event.

This event was held in Ballroom Ritz Carlton, Jakarta at 6 April 2014. For this fashion show Ivan Gunawan prepared 20 beautiful wedding dresses and named this line collection "Emma the Silent Pricess" after his older sister, the late Emma Sadiani Gunawan.

I don't know much about fashion but I've heard somewhere that Ivan Gunawan is famous for creating extravagant dresses that -in my opinion- not very wearable. That was my expectation when I entered the ballroom. But when the first model out with the first dress, it really changed my perspective on Ivan Gunawan's creation. All the dresses were so pretty and classically beautiful without looking over the top.

Ivan Gunawan has succeeded in accentuated bride's true beauty by driving less dramatic French lace gowns within mermaid, A-line, ball-gown and sheath dress silhouettes. Yet, he has kept their special look with ribbons or belts. And here some of my favorite collection from Ivan Gunawan Bridal Fashion Show

Honestly, seeing all this gorgeous wedding dresses make me thinking what kind of dress that I want to wear in my wedding day someday :D With my very short figure, I bet it would be difficult to find the perfect one. Sigh.
